The National Team on rhythmic gymnastics in “Sakura Camp 2017” (Japan)

The department of gymnastics continues tight cooperation with the National Team of the Republic of Belarus on rhythmic gymnastics and Sendai University (Japan).

From October 3rd till October 11th  the National Team of the Republic of Belarus on rhythmic gymnastics conducted a training session in Japan under the preparation for the Olympic Games, which will hold in Tokyo, 2020. The senior teacher of the gymnastics department Maria Makarova was invited to the training session in order to provide the methodological assistance. The training session got a beautiful title “Sakura Camp 2017”.

The organizers were the cities of  Siroisi and Shibata, and Sendai University. These cities are located in Miyagi prefecture, the center of which is a sister town of Minsk – Sendai. In every city National Team demonstrated its skills while exhibition performance and open workouts. Bright performances of our gymnasts gained a large number of spectators and had a great success. More than 1000 spectators presented on the open training in Sendai.

The members of our delegation visited the kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Schools, where they told the children about Belarus and rhythmic gymnastics. Also, Japanese children prepared bright performances, which were consisted of Japanese traditional dances and games. The performances of support teams with chants in Japanese style, specially prepared for the meeting of Belarusian delegation, caused a great delight. Our delegation had also a possibility to get closer to the culture of Japan, visited Buddhist and Shinto temples.

Running such sporting events has a great value for the athletes’ preparation for the Olympic Games. Very important thing is sportsmen’s adaptation to the country conditions, where the competitions will take place, time difference, weather conditions, often earthquakes, which are typical for Japan, cuisine peculiarities.

The training sessions in Japan will hold annually till the Olympic Games in Tokyo. During this time our gymnasts will gain not only the experience in staying in this country, but also a large number of fans, who will support our team at the Olympic Games in 2020.
