International rafting tour Belarus – Latvia

From 15 till 17 of June the Institute of tourism of BSUPC in cooperation with Latvian Academy of Sport Education ran an international rafting trip on the Western Dvina. Tourists from both countries met at the picturesque place of our country – Braslav, where the guests from Latvian had a town sightseeing tour. The representatives of the universities had also run a seminar – presented the educational programmes. More than 80 students and teachers participated in the seminar. Next day they had been accompanying the tourist, who were to cross Belarus-Latvian border.

15 teachers and university staff launched the canoes on the waters of the Western Dvina. The float participants had successfully passed border control and after 5 hours reached Latvian town Kraslava, where their small journey had started. The Latvian side invited Belarusian colleagues to visit Aglona settlement, the main attraction of which is Catholic Church of the Holy Mother Ascension constructed in 18th century. The tourist visited the unique museum of bread as well.

It is worth mentioning, that the international float on the Western Dvina was organized for the first time ever. The university staff became the first who made such a trip.
