Delegation of the Lingnan Normal University visited BSUPC

On June 27, the delegation of the Lingnan Normal University (LNU) led by Vice President Lian Yanzhe visited the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held between the leadership of LNU and the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture: the rector of the university Sergey Borisovich Repkin, the first vice-rector Valery Ivanovich Dunai and the vice-rector for educational and sports work Vladimir Vladimirovich Kovalenia.

The universities of the two countries have been cooperating for several years already. The largest joint project implemented is the Confucius Classroom, which operates on the basis of BSUPC.

As Sergey Repkin noted, a lot of work has been done so that today the students of the Confucius Classroom can learn Chinese, and also engage in popular directions of traditional oriental physical culture. «However, it is necessary to develop new directions that are in demand both by professional athletes and by the population of the country as a whole», the rector of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture said.

According to Sergei Borisovich, special attention should be paid to sports psychology and rehabilitation.

«Chinese specialists have unique knowledge in the designated areas. The result of their work we observe at sports competitions of world level — athletes go to the start not only physically, but emotionally prepared», the rector said.

It is planned that in the new academic year an international scientific and practical seminar devoted to the issues of sports psychology and physical rehabilitation will be held at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. Participation in it will be made by the best experts from China.

Perhaps holding the seminar will be the first step towards the creation of an international research group of young scientists.

The Chinese side supported the proposal, and also expressed the hope that in the near future the Confucius Classroom of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture will grow into an institute, and the branches of the institution will work in all regions of Belarus.

The meeting also discussed the issue of mutual training of students and teachers.

Vice President of LNU told that the main difficulty faced by foreign students coming to study in our country is a language barrier. Lian Yanzhe proposed to expand the already existing practice of sharing specialists — language teachers. Representatives of the LNU are sure that having become acquainted with the Russian language before the trip to Belarus, Chinese students will better orient themselves in a new country for them and will quickly understand the educational process.

Another project that universities plan to implement is the creation of a joint magistracy. According to the idea, half a year students will study in China, and the rest of the period — in Belarus. This approach will allow the masters to obtain the maximum amount of knowledge necessary for successful implementation in the profession. By the way, practical experience for foreign students will be offered in Belarus.

At the end of the meeting, colleagues from two universities exchanged souvenirs. As Sergey Borisovich Repkin noted, representatives of the Lingnan Normal University are greeted as friends at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.

After the official meeting, the guests of the university were offered to go on an excursion to the sports facilities of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. The delegation of the Lingnan Normal University was able to assess the modern training and educational facilities of students.
