BSUPC hosted the European Confucius Institutes Wushu Cup

At November 8th-10th 2019 the BSUPC athletics arena hosted the European Confucius Wushu Cup 2019, under Belarusian Wushu Federation. The forum brought together more than 450 participants from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Portugal, Italy and China.


The event was participated by teams of the Confucius Institute of the University of Padua (Italy), the Confucius Institute of the University of Coimbra (Portugal), the Confucius Institute of the Zaporizhzhya National University (Ukraine), the Confucius Classroom of BSUPC and the «Belarusian Wushu Federation», the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology, BNTU, the Confucius Classroom of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University.


The tournament opening ceremony was attended by BSUPC Vice-Rector on Sport Vladimir Klinov, Chen Weiwei, Press Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, Lee Wenhua, First Secretary of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, 14-time World Champion among amateurs in Muay Thai and K-1, Chingiz Allazov, Vice-President of Belarusian Wushu Federation Nikolay Tychko, Directors of the Confucius Classroom  at BSUPC Natalia Kastseyeva and Song Peng.

In his welcoming speech Vladimir Klinov noted, that annually the BSUPC wushu competitions become more popular and ambitious expand their geography and become more ambitious. Vladimir Klinov emphasized, that the Cup contributes to the development of Wushu across Europe and becomes the basis for the experience exchange among athletes and coaches.Ms. Lee Wenhua expressed her gratitude to the BSUPC and Confucius Classroom for their contribution in Belarusian-Chinese cooperation, popularization of traditional Chinese culture, drew special attention to the importance of holding the forum in the Year of Belarus in China.Chingiz Allazov wished all participants to reach highest achievements, be motivated by victory, constantly enhance their skills and compete for the honor of native team and country.The Cup program included competitions in Taolu and Sanda in the age of    8-11 years (taolu), 12-14 years old, 15-17 years old, over 18 years old. In the Taolu section, martial arts enthusiasts observed complexes with long and short weapons, as well as weaponless.

For high team spirit and contribution in wushu popularisation, 10 teams were awarded special prize — Confucius Classroom Cup


The performance of the best athletes in Taolu and final contest in Sanda would be broadcasted by the Belarus 5 channel. An online broadcast of the Cup was also organized.In addition to the competitive part, the event included a cultural and cognitive elements — interactive platforms were dedicated to the Chinese culture: “Chinese Tea Ceremony”, “Chinese Calligraphy”, “The Cinologists”.

Guests of the event took part in competitions, became an apprentices of Chinese Wushu masters.
