BSUPC student Vladislav Goncharov claimed gold at the 2016 Olympic Games in trampoline.
In the final the athlete scored 61.745 points and outdid two Chinese athletes – Don Don (60.536) and Gao Lei (60.175).
This is the only gold for the Belarus team at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. In addition, Belarus managed to win the Olympic medal in trampoline for the first time in history. Since the sport was included in the program of the 2000 Sydney Games, the Belarusians have repeatedly been close to the podium, but failed to make it.
20-year-old Vladislav Goncharov was a debutant of the Olympics, but despite his young age was one of the favorites of the Games. He broke into the trampoline elite in 2014. Since then, the Belarusian has won four medals in this Olympic discipline at the world championships (bronze in 2014 and silver in 2015) and European championships (gold in 2014 and in 2016).
