A delegation from the University Sports Union of the Republic of Poland visited Belarusian State University of Physical Culture

University Sport Association of Poland, headed by the Vice-President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Marian Dymalski, visited the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture (BSUPC).

The delegation was hosted by the BSUPC Rector and Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Sergey Repkin, Vice-Rector on Sport Vladimir Klinov and Сhairman of the Belarusian Student Sports Association, Olympic сhampion Alexander Bogdanovich.

The guests got acquainted with sports infrastructure and training facilities of the BSUPC, training base of university, visited the university track-and-field arena and swimming complex.This meeting was held at the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, where the student sports issues were discussed.

Marian Dymalski appreciated the level Minsk is prepared for the 2nd European Games, and noticed: “Soon you will be held a large-scale sports forum, and we understand it importance. Recently, the “Flame of Peace” relay passed through Poland. I represent the student sport and I am very glad that Belarus is open for cooperation in this sphere. In 2020, you will host student rowing competitions. I think, your country can already make plans about holding the Summer Universiade”.

He also noted, that the Universiade is a kind of “boost” for young athletes, increasing their chances to succeed in future. In addition, this event is a good opportunity for the hosting city to improve its infrastructure.

“In our country, sport has a very high position. Belarus, like Poland, takes a large number of international sports events. Besides, in addition to the upcoming 2nd European Games, in the near future we expect the World Hockey Championship and the World Chess Olympiad. Concerning the Universiade, we need to think hard. Perhaps, it will be held in several countries”, — said Sergei Repkin.

In the end, the Rector of BSUPC drew attention to the possibility of holding an International Conference of University Sports in Belarus.
